Moving from one solution to a new one can be daunting, so we want to ensure your migration from the Techstreet Enterprise platform to Engineering Workbench is as smooth as possible.

Please see below some common questions and answers relating to the two platforms, divided into a user focused FAQ at the start and then followed by an administrator focused section. Please also let us know how to help further – we are here for you!

Engineering Workbench User

Will I still have access to the “Lists” feature?

Yes. In Engineering Workbench, this feature is known as “Watchlist”. Documents can be added to your “Watchlist,” similar to the “Lists” feature, to enable notifications to be sent when the document revises or gets an update. “Watchlists” will appear as a widget on your Engineering Workbench Homepage, as well as under the My Workspaces page.

I like downloading documents, can I still do that?

Yes. From the Document Viewer, you can use the “Get PDF” link to download a PDF copy that you can save to your machine. However, the online viewer option is full of useful tools that could make finding the content you’re interested in easier. When downloading the document using the “Get PDF” link, it may require the installation of DRM software like FileOpen to view the document.

I used to incorporate links that helped me navigate to where the document is found, is that available?

Yes. Using the “Get Link” feature you can link directly to the document within Engineering Workbench. Depending on your subscription setup, you may be able to link directly to specific information within the document as well.

Sometimes I like to search for Keywords, instead of documents themselves. Can I do that?

Yes. Engineering Workbench is powered by semantic search technology that allows you to search for keywords or ask questions to get relevant answers.

I liked the “Recently Used Documents” tab in Techstreet, will that be available?

Yes, in Engineering Workbench, the homepage will contain a customizable widget that lists your recently used documents. Clicking on the title you need will immediately open the document.

I liked the “Related Documents” feature within Techstreet. Is that still available?

Yes, it is just organized a bit differently. With Engineering Workbench, “Dynamic Linking” points out the connections to other documents directly within the document you are viewing so they are easily accessible. We also have a dedicated tab for this in our “Summary” box that can be found on the results pages of your search.

I used the “Notes” tab to relay important information to my team, can I still do that?

Yes, the “Annotations” feature within Engineering Workbench lets you share notes with your team. The notes can be restricted to certain audiences, like a project team, for example.

Techstreet Enterprise had a “Help Center” and “Live Chat” feature that I could reference for quick support. Does Engineering Workbench have anything similar?

Absolutely! When you are in Engineering Workbench, click on the blue question mark icon in the top right corner, then click “Support.” Clicking “Contact Customer Care” will provide you call, email, and chat options so you can reach out to our support team and clicking “Visit the On-Demand Customer Academy” will navigate you to further learning resources.

The "Search History" section helped me locate searches I made in the past, will I still be able to find those?

Of course, in Engineering Workbench the homepage will contain a customizable widget that lists your recent searches. There is also a specific section in your “My Workspaces” application that contains your search history that can quickly be organized by date.

I used redlines to identify changes between documents, is that still available?

With Engineering Workbench’s powerful Smart Compare tool, you are easily able to identify changes between document versions. You can quickly identify what has changed through color coded tabs within the document, and depending upon your subscription setup, you may even be able to filter quickly to the specific changes you find to be most important. You may also have the ability to create direct links to critical changes and then share them with others. Unlike in Techstreet Enterprise, there is not an additional PDF file of the redline version. This means that you must be connected to the internet and utilizing Smart Compare in order to view changes, as you are unable to download these files.

I like being able to see the details of a document before I open it. Is this still possible?

Yes, it is. On the results page we provide you with a “Summary” link that gives you all the information you may need to know before opening a document. This can include information like the Document Status, it’s Publication Date, its Table of Contents, and an Abstract.

I have "Group Lists" with my team so we all can access and refer to the same content. Can I do that still?

Yes, Engineering Workbench calls this feature a “Project Folder.” You can add all the documents you’d like to this folder, then share that folder with your team. You can send the project folder to individual people or create a group and send it to them all at once.

Certain publishers are important to me, so I have alerts set up that let me know when they update content or release new documents. Can I do that in Engineering Workbench?

Engineering Workbench does not have the ability to notify you of updates or releases at the publisher level, but you can create as many “Watchlists” as you’d like, which allows you to receive email alerts whenever documents in your list change. Depending on your subscription level, you may even be able to attach these types of alerts to specific sections within a document!

I used to be able to request that a product be added to our subscription either a through a building block request or add-on request, are either of these still available?

Yes, by utilizing the shopping cart icon next to the document title in the search results page, a request can be sent to your administrator for approval or for additional pricing.

I used to be able to reach out to administrators on my account (within my organization) when I had an issue. Will I still be able to contact someone internally for help?

Yes, you can still reach out to an internal administrator for help. Your administrator should set up a welcome message, and you can always reach out to our customer care team to find out who your administrator is.

I used to be able to share a “List” I created with other members on the subscription. Am I still able to do this?

Yes, you can share your “Watchlist” with other users on your subscription. You can even create saved user groups to easily share multiple lists efficiently with a specific user set. Additionally, you can create “Project Folders” that allow you to place specific documents in an easily accessible folder to be shared amongst your desired user group. Unlike a “Watchlist”, users will not receive update notifications from a “Project Folder.”

I used to be able to subscribe to a “List” another member on the subscription created, will I still be able to do this?

Yes, but that user must first make the list public. Once they have done that, by clicking on “My Workspaces”, then “My Watch Lists”, you can see all the lists that have been created and shared on the subscription. To get alerted, click on the bell icon for the “Watch List” you wish to follow.

I used to be able to download a CVS file that included documents I had on a “List”, will I still be able to do this?

Yes. By clicking on your name, then “My Subscriptions”, you will be shown the catalogs that you subscribe to. Clicking on the catalog’s PCN will display search results that you can then export to CSV by clicking on “Export Citations” from the top of the search results. You can also do this with your “Watchlists” and “Projects.”

Engineering Workbench Administrator

Login and User Creation/Support
As an administrator on the account, I used to be able to manage subscription users without contacting Techstreet Customer Care. Will I still be able to do this?

Users can register for access on their own by using the account login links provided during setup, but Customer Care will need to support you with removing users. Administrators can reassign a user’s “Project Folders”, “Annotations”, or “Watchlists” to another user, but can’t change any other user settings.

Can I still do a bulk upload of new users?

Bulk upload is not supported on Engineering Workbench. Users will need to register for access using the registration links provided during account setup and activation.

As an administrator on the account, I used to be able to support our users with modifying their account, password resets and locked accounts. Will I still be able to do this?

Customer Care will need to support you with this. Administrators can modify a user’s “Project Folders”, “Annotations”, or “Watchlists” to another user, but can’t change any other user settings.

As an administrator on the account, I used to be able to view all users on our account and export a list of all users. Will I still be able to do this?

Yes. As an administrator, under “Usage” you will be able to pull a “Active Users” report which will show you a list of users that have created an account. Just above the names, in the top right corner there are 3 dots that will provide additional options, this is where you will find the export data function.

As an administrator on the account, I used to be able to add email domains for user creation. Will I still be able to support user creation without contacting Customer Care?

You will need Customer Care support to add additional email domains for user access and account creation.

As an administrator on the account, I used to be able to contact customer care for creating IP anonymous access. Will I still be able to do this?

No, this option is not available in Engineering Workbench. Registration is completed through login links that are provided during account setup. If you need access to these links, please reach out to your account manager or our Customer Care team for support.

As an administrator on the account, I used to be able to use a Corporate Key URL to share on our intranet for users to create accounts. Will I still be able to do this?

Corporate Key URL is not supported with Engineering Workbench. However, you’ll receive your individual account registration links from the Order Entitlement team, and these links can be used similarly to Corporate Key to allow users to self-register for the platform.

I used to have a tool on Techstreet Enterprise called “Document Repository” where I could upload and store company documents into the platform. It allowed my subscription users to access them in the same way they access subscribed to documents. Can I still store documents this in this way?

No, “Document Repository” is not available in Engineering Workbench, however you can upload company links to be accessible by members of your account.

As an administrator on the account, I used to be able to request subscription pricing for a product. Will I still be able to do this

Yes, you can initiate this process by clicking on the shopping cart icons that exists next to the document title(s) you are wanting to know more about. Click “Add to Collection” and move through the prompts that follow to request an official quote.

As an administrator on the account, I used to be able to create a custom field as an additional label on user profiles, will I still be able to create this?

Custom Fields are not supported in Engineering Workbench.

As an administrator on the account, I used to be able to view who was using a catalog/license seat and sometimes even release a seat before a user became inactive. Will I still be able to do this?

No, however the seats will still automatically free up after around 15 minutes of inactivity. Inactivity is linked to the use of the laptop/PC, so we encourage users to log out of Engineering Workbench when they are done to help facilitate seat access. If they are done working with a document but are not ready to log out, launching a different document in a different collection will also release their previous seat.

As an administrator on the account, I used to be able to set a ‘Heavy Download Alert’ to monitor which users are downloading more documents than the selected threshold. Will I be able to configure this alert and receive this report?

This feature is not supported in Engineering Workbench.

As an administrator on the account, I used to be able to add a logo or post a custom message to our Techstreet Enterprise homepage. Will I be able to do that in Engineering Workbench, and if so, can I customize the message based on the subaccount?

Yes, as an administrator you can add a “Welcome Message” to your homepage - you can add text, links and pictures, including your logo.  Only one welcome message can be displayed at a time; however, different welcome messages can be created for different subaccounts.

As an administrator on the account, I used to be able to create “Tags” for tagging like documents. Will I still be able to do this?

Tagging is not available, however, as an administrator you can change “Search Configurations” for your users. This ultimately allows you to place specific parameters around a search.

As an administrator on the account, I used to be able to add external references to documents (URL outside of Enterprise), will I still be able to do this?

Yes, as an administrator there is a “My Publications” section that allows you to do just that. You can import lists or create individual references.

Can I use a Deposit Account to purchase additional standards?
Yes. This is available for purchases made through our Accuris Retail Store and for purchases made through a Custom Collection subscription add on. Please contact your Account Manager should you want to set one up. Once successful, in the retail store, you will have an "Invoice" payment option available that allows you to utilize your account funds (see detailed instructions here). In Engineering Workbench when you are adding a document to your subscription, upon accepting the price of a quote, a free text field will be available and to indicate you'd like to use your account funds, please provide us with your Deposit Account ID.
